New Tour Dates, News & Podcasts, Governor (and paddler) Tim Walz and More
Dear Friends and Readers,
Apologies for the frequent emails, but there have been some changes and additions to the tour dates for the Pushing the River. Details below!
Amazon
I also have a request which I hate to make, but which is unfortunately (and algorithmically) necessary: If you read and liked Pushing the River, and have time to give it a review at Amazon, that would be very helpful. A book needs (I believe) 25 reviews before it gets put in the recommendation cycle.
Media and The Electric Typewriter
Also, if you’re interested, I put some stories and podcasts about Pushing the River below. The most rewarding piece of media for me personally came from The Electric Typewriter, which aggregates great nonfiction. Editor Dan Toller asked me to put a list of my favorite nonfiction stories together, which you can read here: Frank Bures' Favourite Articles: Classic nonfiction from one of the best in the business. He also put a list of my stories together, which felt like a huge honor: 20 Great Articles and Essays by Frank Bures
Sculpture Garden Audio Tour
Below are the updated tour dates, a photo of me giving my book to Governor Tim Walz, and here’s my new audio tour, in case you find yourself at the Walker’s Sculpture Garden: Minneapolis Sculpture Garden to Loring Park: A Public Art Walking Tour. (Other audio tours here.)
This should be the last you’ll hear from me for a while.
Take care!
Frank

Shamelessly Plugging Away
At the Strib Unbound Expo, I managed to foist a copy of Pushing the River on an unsuspecting Governor Tim Walz. Turns out he and a friend won a canoe race in Nebraska back in the day! In any case, I hope he enjoys the book. Governors Luther Youngdahl and Orville Freeman used to fired the starting pistol for the Paul Bunyan Canoe Derby. So maybe Walz will do the same when the race is revived.
